El Cafecito opens its doors in 1993, when Canadian Anthony Lloyd, better known as Mr. Tony, moves to Ecuador to open an iconic place in the Quito culture: a coffee in the most bohemian neighborhood of the capital. A few years later he would also open a place in Cuenca.
Since 2016 the administration has changed hands: former clients and neighbors have decided to put it back on top, so that each person who enters “can live their own world”.

Ramiro Carrión
ChefHis hometown is Columbe, province of Chimborazo, in the center of the country. He loves to make cakes, his specialty is brownies and he makes the best pancakes in Quito. He is married and has two daughters with whom he shares what he can most on the days off.

Rubén Valencia
ChefOriginally from San Isidro, Manabí, on the coast of Ecuador. Hard-working and organized like few. He does things in an impeccable order and each dish must be perfect. He says he only has two children … even though he comes from Manabí.
